Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for Episode 3 of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Revealed
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Planners, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might seem unsuited, but the developments of the third episode demonstrate why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
First, the party has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, striking Thimble, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The strong character and The healer, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the northern region in search of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the other eight cast members to form the Seekers and Schemers groups.
Audiences can expect learning which characters will be where in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
